Katherine Ramsland has composed a “Who’s Who?” in the world of forensic investigations in her latest book entitled; "Forensic Investigations: Method From Experts." The author selected well-known and nationally renowned experts, whom she interviewed to present what experts from various disciplines can tell investigators to enhance their knowledge and /or improve their practices. The author begins the book with a compelling case which demonstrates the importance of being aware how easy it is to succumb to various human factors that can negatively impact the case. She stresses the important of remaining flexible and open to new information as it come into the case, which are part of “The Five Components of Practical Homicide Investigation®”
The chapters begin with a chronological sequence beginning with the Crime Scenes and First Responders followed by a Chapter on the Psychology of Investigation, which addresses such a myriad of issues including cognitive interference, attention drain tunnel vision as well as other issues that can impact an investigation.
Each of the chapters includes personal interviews with recognized experts in each of the disciplines discussed. The author provides the reader with learning objectives, key definitions, resources and important terminology as she braids the process of investigation with psychology and the law stressing “best practices.”
