Vidocq Lifetime Achievement Award
I am proud to announce that I have been selected to be the recipient of the Vidocq Society's "Halbert E. Fillinger Lifetime Achievement Award." The Award Ceremony and Banquet will be held at The Belle Voir Manor located at 1601 State Road in Bensalem, Pennsylvania on Sunday, October 1, 2017 at 6:00 P.M.
I am honored and flattered to be recognized for my contributions to the law enforcement profession throughout my years of service, research and dedication to the investigation of murder and cold case homicide investigation.
The Vidocq Society is a members-only crime-solving club that meets on the third Thursday of every month in Philadelphia, PA.
The Vidocq Society is named for Eugene Francois Vidocq, the ground-breaking 19th century French detective who helped police by using the psychology of the criminal to solve "cold case" homicides. The Society's original bylaws called for 82 Vidocq Society Members (V.S.M.s), One for each year of Vidocq’s life.
Today more than 150 men and women from diverse backgrounds comprise our unique group, sprinkled with forensic experts, businesspeople, and others chosen to wear the distinctive red, white, and blue rosette Vidocq rosette.
The "Halbert E. Fillinger Lifetime Achievement Award" is named in honor of Dr. Halbert Fillinger who was a forensic pathologist. His 40 years of service included his time as Chief Medical Examiner in the Philadelphia Medical Examiner's Office before being elected Coroner of Montgomery County, PA.
During his career, Dr. Fillinger lectured many times at the FBI academy in Quantico, Va., and all branches of the Armed Forces. Respected for his work, officials in the states of Texas, Michigan, Arkansas, Kentucky, Georgia, New York, New Jersey, and Colorado sought his advice.
I certainly appreciate that the award is named after Doctor Halbert E. Fillinger, who was a dear friend, colleague and mentor to me early in my career. We had the opportunity to teach together at various events back in the 1990s.For more information on this event please contact Commissioner Bill Fleisher at The Vidocq Society 1704 Locust Street, Philadelphia PA 19103.
